Hillscot's off-line programming technique, developed based on ABB RobotStudio, simplifies the process of creating a precise robot spraying path across an irregularly-shaped part, ensuring uniformity in the coating. 

The technique consists of an automatic path generation algorithm that automatically generates the path over the part’s surface and provides the user with a graphical view of the path. The user can then optimize the path by making changes to the path parameters. The optimized path can then be transferred to the robot control system for execution. 

The technique is also very versatile, as it can be applied to different robot types and also be used for different applications such as painting, welding and deburring. Additionally, the technique can be used with different materials, allowing for the coating of complex parts with a variety of materials.
